Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineering Technician reviews engineering drawings and supports the upgrade and testing of power supply systems in a hands-on manufacturing environment. This role focuses on inspecting test units, documenting findings for engineering teams, and contributing to continuous improvements in safety, quality, and efficiency. The technician uses precision measuring equipment and collaborates closely with engineering and production teams to build and validate complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions to support the upgrade and testing of power supply systems.
  • Inspect test units and components using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions, tolerances, and overall quality.
  • Document inspection results, test findings, and quality issues clearly and accurately for engineering and production teams.
  • Perform mechanical and electromechanical troubleshooting on assemblies and equipment as needed.
  • Build and assemble complex mechanical and electromechanical systems by following detailed assembly procedures.
  • Conduct inspection and testing activities to ensure products meet safety, quality, and performance requirements.
  • Work with tight tolerances, including measurements down to .001", to maintain high precision and product reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production personnel to resolve issues, support root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and manufacturing efficiency, including lean manufacturing practices.
  • Support process improvements in areas such as equipment assembly, metal fabrication, and quality documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and assembly steps in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Use practical problem-solving skills to help address complex energy and power generation challenges in a production setting.

Essential Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, and gauge blocks.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and detailed assembly procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience performing quality inspections and documenting findings in a clear, structured format.
  • Ability to work accurately with tight tolerances, including measurements down to .001".
  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, heavy equipment, energy, aerospace, or industrial environments.
  • Troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electromechanical systems in a production or test environment.
  • Inspection, testing, and documentation skills related to complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and standards while building and inspecting complex assemblies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Background in automotive, metal fabrication, equipment assembly, or similar industrial applications.
  • Experience contributing to process or safety improvements in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Comfort working in teams that value technical excellence and practical problem-solving.
  • Interest in supporting innovative solutions to complex energy and power generation challenges.

Work Environment

This role is based in a hands-on manufacturing environment with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with opportunities for overtime. The position is structured as a 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension or transition to direct hire based on performance and business needs. You will work closely with engineering and production teams, using precision measuring equipment and tools to inspect and assemble mechanical and electromechanical systems. Standard industrial safety practices apply, and you will be expected to follow all facility procedures and guidelines while working on the production floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
